HERitage

“HERitage: Creating Space for Black, Indigenous, POC, and underrepresented women in the arts" is an initiative launched by Joyce German in March 2025. This event aimed to address the challenges faced by individuals who are underrepresented in the arts, particularly Black women, Indigenous women, and women of colour. It was launched as a panel and performance event. The event featured various artists sharing their experiences, which inspired the next generation while fostering community and mentorship. The event motivated many emerging artists, students, and creative professionals to learn, connect, and celebrate the voices underrepresented in the arts.

Joyce plans to curate more events like this and aims to make HERitage an annual occurrence. Please see below to get tickets for HERitage 2026!

HERitage 2026

Sat, Mar 14 @ 4:30PM - 8:00PM

70 Albert St. Unit 200, Winnipeg MB

HERitage returns for its second year, bringing community together to create space for BIPOC & underrepresented voices in the arts. Join us!

HERitage is a community centered arts gathering rooted in the identities, histories, and lived experiences of Black, Indigenous, POC, and underrepresented women in the arts. Our heritage shapes how we create, move, and exist and often informs the barriers we face within the arts scene. HERitage creates space to name those experiences, celebrate resilience, and build visibility together.

The evening will feature panel discussions with established and emerging Winnipeg-based creatives, centering conversations around identity, heritage, and navigating the arts as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour) women. Live performances by an all-women's band featuring panellists and local creatives will follow, along with woman-owned vendors offering items, refreshments, and artwork on display.

HERitage is also a space for connection, collaboration, and care, inviting artists and community members to gather, network, and build toward a more inclusive arts landscape.

Free for Students (18 & Under) and Community Elders (60+) General Admission: $10
